·         Reengineered the PaintLogic Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) Tracking Module, a program used by body shops to track their emissions of VOCs. The VOC Module ran under Xenix, Unix, and DOS and used the db_VISTA database library from Raima.

·         Prototyped new software functions using Proteus. Tracked features and bugs using TrackRecord.

Nov 1989 to Sep 1995                        Electronic Data Systems (EDS)

Advanced Systems Engineer

·         Developed the EDS Document Wizard, a Microsoft WordBasic program that automated much of the process of developing a user manual.

·         Supported Unix and DOS systems at the GM Shreveport Assembly truck plant. One system was the Assembly Line Diagnostic Link (ALDL) system, which did end-of-line testing of every S-10 or Sonoma pickup truck manufactured.

·         Led design and wrote design specifications in several projects. Received a special $500 award from General Motors as recognition for one of those designs.

·         Administrated two Sun Microsystems 3/60 workstations running SunOS.

·         Maintained SunOS C programs and C Shell scripts used to process automotive service bulletins. Wrote MS-DOS batch files and C programs that prepared automotive service information for release on CD-ROM in a proprietary database format.

·         As a consultant to an EDI team, developed a windowing library using Waterloo C for MVS on the mainframe.

·         Published articles in CD-ROM Professional magazine (now Online Magazine).

·         Redesigned and coded LibMan (Library Manager), an MS-DOS application written in BASIC and C, the purpose of which was to enable software librarians to promote software from testing to production status. Wrote a comprehensive user manual.

·         Earned certification as a Certified Computing Professional (CCP) with honors. Subsequently was paid by the Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals (ICCP) to develop questions for the Software Engineering test question pool.
